I still remember the moment when I first laid eyes on the Founder of All For HIM Ministries. Mind you, All For HIM Ministries did not even exist nor was it even a glimmer of an idea.
It was on a Sunday morning January 15, 2012 – that day I had no idea who Donnie was or the journey that we would take together from that day to this.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT) For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
It was a normal Sunday morning for our family. At the time I was a single mom (a widow) with only one child left in my home. The older son was gone out of state doing a one year internship at a church.
We went early to church as was our habit since I sang on the praise team each Sunday. During praise and worship service I saw a tall good-looking man enter the sanctuary and take a seat. He captured my attention immediately as our congregation was small and I knew everyone that was a member there. My family had been attending for about 5 years straight.
After service to my surprise, one of the ladies that I sang with in the praise team came over with her husband this new man to make introductions. It was their son who had recently moved back to town, Donnie W. Ojemann.
I cannot tell you anything about what was said at that moment. What I can tell you is that my stomach was aflutter as I shook this man’s hand and inspected quickly to see if there was a wedding band. For no logical reason that I can map out or explain – I felt that the paths of our lives were now intersecting. It was a Divine Connection that only God could have directed.
Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV) A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
After our introductions we struck up a friendship. We talked on the phone after work and on weekends. We were blessed to take the time to get to know one another.
Our friendship was a breath of fresh air as we seemed to be able to talk with ease about any topic…
It had been 2 ½ years since my husband passed away and 23 years since I had a first date! It was important to me that before our friendship grew to another level that we take our time to see if we were compatible for a more permanent relationship.
Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
During the course of our getting to know each other, Donnie asked me something along the lines of “What song best describes who you are?”
This was a question that I had never before (or sense) been asked in my 40+ years of living on this earth. As I pondered the question, I became a little frustrated because I could not just pick one.
That in turn led me to listen to music that I had on my shelves and then try to pick one that best suited me. I realized that there was not one song but several. I listened to over 50 before I settled on 7 that best described who I was at that moment in time.
# 1 – Jesus Is The ONE (hymnal)
F Bb/F F F Gm7 C7 Jesus is the One who loves me, Jesus is the One who cares
Gm7 C7 F Jesus is the One who answers every one of my prayers
F Bb/F F F Gm7 C7 I know He will never leave me, I know He will always be there
Gm7 C7 When I feel those fears and doubts
C F Jesus is the One who cares
# 2 – I Have Decided ( by Amy Grant)
I have decided I’m gonna live like a believer Turn my back on the deceiver, I’m gonna live what I believe. I have decided being good is just a fable I just can’t ’cause I’m not able, I’m gonna leave it to the Lord
There’s a wealth of things that I profess I said that I believed But deep inside I never changed I guess I’d been deceived ‘Cause a voice inside kept telling me that I’d change by & by But the spirit made it clear to me that kind of life’s a lie
So forget the game of being good & your self-righteous pain ‘Cause the only good inside your heart is the good that Jesus brings And when the world begins to see you change don’t expect them to applaud Just keep your eyes on Him and tell yourself I’ve become the work of God
# 3 – You Don’t Know What You’re Missing (by Andrae Crouch)
You don’t know what you’re missing You don’t know what you’re missing You don’t know what you’re missing until you met the Lord
You run around in circles You run around in circles You run around in circles until you met the Lord
The best things in life are free and they come very naturally When you give God your heart promise you’ll never depart Then you can sing along with me
These songs best describe how I felt during the 15 years that I ran away from God as well as my life after my rededication to Christ.
The sense of emptiness was so great at times I felt that it was going to consume me. I plunged myself into my family, my work and volunteer activities to end up still feeling so empty that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Only JESUS fills the void NOTHING ELSE!
Above all else I desired for my new friend to know that my life has not always been easy and that Jesus became and will continue to be the main man in my life.
# 4 – A Living Sacrifice ( by Fernando Alvarez)
V1 – As I prepare my heart and my mind, As you clean my hands before your presence Lord. To please You is my desire. How can I offer something that cost me nothing?
V2 – As I walk Oh Lord in your ways, let my prayer arise as incense to your throne. Your will is my desire. How can I offer something that cost me nothing?
Chorus – As I lift my hands to you, let the life you’ve given me, be a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to you, bringing glory to your Name.
V3 – You gave your only son for me. The precious lamb was slain so I would live. His blood has taken all the sin. How can we offer something that cost us nothing?
#5 – Hallelu Et Adonai (by Paul Wilbur)
Praise Him with the symbol, Praise Him with the dance Praise Him with the shofar, Praise Him with your hands Praise Him with the timbrell, Praise Him with the harp Praise Him with the drum & the flute, Praise Him with your heart
Hallelu ET Adonai, Hallelu ET Adonai, Hallelu ET Adonai Come and praise the Lord [Repeat:]
Praise Him in the heavens, Praise Him moon and stars Praise Him for His glory and power, Praise Him with guitars Praise Him in the battle, Praise Him in the storm Praise Him for the victory’s won, Praise Him with this song
# 6 – Waging War ( by CeCe Winans)
Anoint my head, anoint my feet Send your angels raining down, here on the battle ground For your glory, We’re taking territory Fighting unseen enemies like never before, Were Waging War
I’m tired of principalities messing with me (Waging war) I’m tired of the devil stealing from me (Waging war) I promise he won’t get one more thing (Waging war) I’m taking it back taking territory (Waging war) I’m ready for the battle I’m ready to win (Waging war) My weapon of power He lives within (Waging war) I can’t be defeated the enemy gotta flee (Waging war) I’m taking it back taking territory
Going into battle, Going into battle (2x)
Be my sword, Be my shield As we claim the victory over the enemy In your name You rule and rain Never being defeat anymore, Were waging war
Send your fire, Send your fire
Fire by night, Cloud by day A strong tower send the latter rain Lion of Judah Lord, God, Mighty In battle Since you did it back then we know you’ll do it again
We’re going into battle, We’re going into battle
Little did I know that just a short while later we would be facing county jail, a sentencing and prison time. That our lives would together become a “Living Sacrifice” while we continued to give God praise “Hallelu Et Adonai” in our storm!
Only God knew and understood all that we would face together with Him as our foundation walking hand in hand into the battlefield of TDCJ waging war against the devil as we shared the Good News of Jesus Christ and the Abundant Life He has for you and me!
# 7 – New Season (Martha Munizzi / Israel Houghton )
Chorus: It’s a new season, it’s a new day. A fresh anointing is flowing my way. It’s a season of power and prosperity. It’s a new season coming to me.
Verse 1: The devil’s time is up no longer can he bother me, ‘cause the Creator of the universe He fathers me, and it’s transferable my children’s children shall be free; it’s a new season (it’s a new season). If you don’t know by now, you need to know it’s jubilee, where debts are cancel and your children walk in victory. It’s so available to you right now just taste and see, it’s a new season (it’s a new season).
Verse 2: The new millennium presents a new horizon, and no greater time for us to make a choice and take a stand. All that we need, is resting in His hands; it’s a new season (it’s a new season). All that was stolen is returned to you a hundred fold, Tried in the fire but you’re coming out gold. Cling to His hand, yes, to every promise take a hold; it’s a new season (it’s a new season)
Ending: It’s a new season coming to me.
It is now January 2015 and each of these songs that I shared with my “new” friend in 2012, still speak of who I am today. Donnie became my best friend, husband and partner in ministry in 2013 – so no matter where you might have met your man, I encourage you to speak life to him. You never know, God might use you to sing blessings into your own relationship and touch thousands of others with the Love of Christ through your testimony!
