Warrior Bride – I Get JOY When I Think About…

… what He’s done for me! I get Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy what He’s done for me.  You don’t know like I know, what He’s done for me, you don’t know like I know what He’s done for me…

Psalm 105:5New Living Translation (NLT)Remember the wonders He has performed,His miracles, and the rulings He has given,

There is an old song that I grew up with in Church that I did not fully appreciate as a young teen.  Though you can’t hear my voice right now I want to share this song and how it is now so very real in our Ojemann family’s life!

Imagine yourself sitting in an old time Gospel church, when one of the older ladies stands up in her pew and starts singing from deep down within her heart.  It is testimony service, so everyone listens to the first verse or two then joins in singing and clapping their hands:

  • Oh, I get Joy when I think about what He’s done for me.
  • I get Joy when I think about what He’s done for me.
  • I get Joy, Joy, Joy Joy – what He’s done for me (x2)
  • You don’t know like I know, what He’s done for me (x2)

  •  He picked me up and He turned me around
  • That’s what He’s done for me
  • I said, He picked me up and He turned me around
  • That’s what He’s done for me!

  • He picked me up out of the miry clay,
  • That’s what He’s done for me.
  • He set my feet upon The Rock to stay,
  • That’s what He’s done for me!

  •  Oh you don’t know like I know, what He’s done for me
  • Oh you don’t know like I know, what He’s done for me
  • I get Joy when I think about, what He’s done for me
  • I get Joy when I think about, what He’s done for me!
  • I get Joy, I get Joy, I get Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy – what He’s done for me!

God has been so very merciful to my beloved Warrior Husband and I both!  God believed in us, loved us and reached down for us when others were content to leave us in the grasp of that ol’ devil!

We (Donnie and I) know exactly where we were when God stepped in and turned our lives around and if He had done nothing else for us – we would be eternally grateful!

God has done so much for us, so much for you too! We all have so much to be grateful for when we reflect on all of the Wonders that God has performed in our lives.

Back in May 2014 our Founder and my Warrior Husband wrote on “Count it all Joy” and His core scripture was

James 1:2-4 New Living Translation (NLT)  Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Today I am going to share about stirring up the Joy of the Lord within us as we think about God’s mercy and grace that He has lavished upon our lives!

Psalm 105:5New Living Translation (NLT) Remember the wonders He has performed, His miracles, and the rulings He has given,

Let’s get moving to see what other awesome things that God has done to bring Joy into our lives and those of our Faith Siblings in the Bible!

First off I would like to thank God for our time in jail and prison.  Yes you heard right, it brings joy to my heart as I am mindful of what God is doing in our lives and the souls of men and women (including most of you reading this writing!)

God is good and faithful even when we face difficult situations. You see it was during our county jail time that we both said YES to God’s desire for us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ as a team. We became Warrior Husband & Bride through God’s Great Love for Us!

As we said Yes LORD, to His will and His way – it seemed as if the time on the clock was amplified!

all for him

February 2013 – the Lord impressed upon my husband what we were to name the ministry He had spoken into our hearts – All For HIM Ministries / Todo Para É

April 2013 – we received our Harris County Assumed Name approval and we launched our web presence.  All For HIM Ministries and Abundant Life Prison Wife

May 2013 – the Lord again impressed upon my husband that we should start a monthly newsletter.  We started with a handful of names of people that said they might be interested but  no clue what God was really up to.

You see God had called us to Live Boldly for HIM, declaring His Love, Grace and Mercy – serving HIM at home and behind bars – together as a couple committed to God and God alone.

God was asking us to trust HIM and believe that what the ol’ devil intended to harm and even kill us – God intended it all for His Good, for the salvation of many and the healing of families.

Genesis 50:20 New Living Translation (NLT) You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.

I know, I know some of you are saying – “that sounds good and all but God did not call me or my spouse to minister to others.  We are just new believers stuck spending time behind bars.”

Actually each and every one of us are called to be living sacrifices for God!  Let’s take a look and see what God says to each of us that have said YES to HIM and become HIS Children.

Romans 12:1-2  New Living Translation (NLT) 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

I get great Joy when I think about being selected by God Almighty!  Not only did He save me from a life of sin and destruction, but He took the time to have His life instructions written down – for me and you.

1 Corinthians 10:31New Living Translation (NLT) So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Look no matter what God blesses you to do – do it for the glory of God.  Are you on the Utility Squad, Kitchen Duty, working in the shop or out in the fields?  Know that you represent God, when you have the opportunity to go to chapel – go, prayer circle – join in, Small Group Bible Study – fellowship with your brothers or sisters in Christ.  No matter what you are doing you are a child of God – let His light shine out from within you so that God is glorified!

We are God’s Warriors, He is our Commander and Chief.  When each of us answers His Call, Surrendering All to HIM – there is an unspeakable Joy that bubbles up from within!

Proverbs 16:20New Living Translation (NLT) Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.

I also get Joy when I think about God’s provision for our lives! You see when we said YES to God we had no idea how we were going to be able to afford commissary & phone money, let alone start a ministry with a primary focus on inmates. Let’s face it – starting a church is different, you have people that attend and pay tithes and offerings that help keep the church going. A Prison Ministry is by its nature a gift of love – giving to others who cannot give back!

God Himself has proven that when you take that leap of faith, trusting Him as His Word – that He will  provide all of your needs according to His riches in glory!

Philippians 4:19King James Version (KJV) But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

In less than a year’s time, the Lord blessed me, the Warrior Bride holding down the fort at home with not one – but two raises on my “8-5 job”.

But God did not stop there, He also sent men and women to join us on this journey of faith – volunteers, monetary investors, prayer partners, board members, staff and accountability partners so that we could move forward in the calling that we accepted.

Ephesians 3:20-21New Living Translation (NLT) 20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Christian 2 Christian

Working together with like believers is so fulfilling – and Yes I get Joy when I think about what God has done for us! So much Joy as we witness men and women coming to know Christ – some for the very first time, others re-dedicating their lives to Him! This is what our purpose is here on earth to help build up The Kingdom of God!

Nehemiah 8:10b New Living Translation (NLT) … Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!

# 1  – I get Joy when I think about how God saved us from our sins!

# 2  – I get Joy when I think about how God took the time to put us on His straight and narrow path that leads to Heaven!

# 3 – I get Joy in knowing that even when troubles come my way that God has a bigger plan that I can even see!  Yes even when my husband receives a 1yr set-off from Parole.  All I have to do is continue to follow His Word, no matter how I feel inside – God is Faithful!

# 4 – I get Joy in knowing that God has great plans for our lives – He is singing over us as we dance to His glorious music!

# 5 – I get Joy when I think about how God takes care of even the “small details” in our lives.  The secret things that we sometimes don’t even voice out loud, He knows and cares about the things that we care about!

# 6 – I get Joy when I receive my paycheck each month.  Thankful that God is providing our necessities – roof over our heads, electricity, food in the pantry and telephone service so that we can communicate more frequently!

# 7 – I get Joy when I think about the time God has blessed us with family and friends.  How He has brought people into our lives to love and encourage us in the Lord along this prison journey.

# 8 – I get Joy when I think about God’s great love for us!  How He took the time to join my Warrior Husband and I together so that we could have this Abundant Life in Jesus Christ!

John 10:10b King James Version (KJV) 10 … “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

# 9 – I get Joy as I see our sons join us in ministering to the souls of men and women through All For HIM Ministries!  Volunteering their time in the mailing of Newsletters, giving financially to our Discipleship Program and even writing Bible Studies under the pen Servant Warrior!

#10 – I get Joy, Joy, Joy as I think about what God has done for us!!!!

Today I challenge each and every one of you reading this small Bible Study to start Counting Your Blessings.  Take the time to get out a piece of paper and pencil (or pen) and just write down all that God has done in your life to date.

Before you know it, you too will have Joy bubbling up and out from inside of you.  God loves you so much and you have so much to be grateful for and give HIM praise.

Psalm 103:1-5 (NLT)1 Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. 2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. 3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

All of this talk about God’s goodness is starting to remind me of another song, one that I learned after I rededicated my life to God (written by Derrick Horne)…

  •  This is the Day, that the Lord has made,
  • I will rejoice and be glad in it, be glad in it,
  • This is the time, I’m gonna praise Him like I lost my mind, for He has done wonderful things, in my life!

  •  Glad, glad, glad, glad – He has made me glad
  • Don’t you know I’m glad, glad, glad, glad
  • The Lord has made me, He has made me glad!

I pray that you get JOY when you think about All GOD has done for you!

Your Sister-in Christ,

Mrs. Donnie W. Ojemann
