1 John 4:19 New King James Version (NKJV)
We love Him because He first loved us.
It is now May and this is Warrior Bride, checking in with each of you. As you may have guessed I have been out on another mission of love assignment. Those of you in our Discipleship Program have been in contact with me on a more regular basis, but with this month of May being a time that our nation honors Mothers I felt strongly that it was time that I check in with everyone!
One thing that is not under dispute – we all have a mother, someone that gave us life. Now what happened after that moment varies for each of us. Some of us have a loving caring mother, others of us have mothers that raised us but seemed to have greater pressing priorities than giving us the love we felt we needed and then others have mothers that have not been in our lives for one reason or another through the years. No matter the case all of us have heard the saying, “No greater love than a mother’s love”. However today I come to tell you that this is NOT true!
God’s love for us is The Greatest Love! But let’s not just take my word for it; let’s see what His Word has to say on the matter…
God loved you before you were born:
Psalm 139:13-16 New Living Translation (NLT)
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter
seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
God knows the number of hairs on your head:
Matthew 10:29-31 New Living Translation (NLT)
29 What is the price of two sparrows—one
copper coin? But not a single sparrow can
fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.
30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
31 So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to
God than a whole flock of sparrows.
God loves you so much He collects your tears:
Psalm 56:8 New Living Translation (NLT)
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have
collected all my tears in your bottle. You have
recorded each one in your book.
God knows your heart:
Psalm 139:1-3 New Living Translation (NLT)
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. 3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.
God’s Love is the Greatest! So you see, even if you have an earthly mother that loves you with her all, she cannot even come close to loving you like God does. If you happen to be a mother – as much as you love your children, you can never love them more than God!
I have to admit that it was a long time (more than 15 years) before I really understood God’s unconditional love for me. Though I was raised in church and heard about the love of God for many years, I did not really get it. However there came a day when I was down and out, feeling so very far away from Him, knowing that I would be better off with Him than going my own road. So I headed toward
Him – but I was surprised because when I looked up I saw Him running towards me arms open wide, a smile on His face saying, “Daughter I am so glad you found your way home, I have been waiting for you…”
Luke 15:20 New Living Translation (NLT) “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.”
- I read my Bible – because I love HIM.
- I pray privately to God – because I love HIM.
- I serve my brothers and sisters in Christ – because I love HIM!
Since I have found my way home to the Lord, it has been my burning desire to serve HIM with all that I am. Not because I am afraid of His punishment – but because of my love for HIM, I desire to please HIM in all that I do. I believe that the reason God has given us free will is His great love for us. He wants us to choose to love HIM, not out of fear or obligation but because of His love for us.
So no matter where you are today, God’s love is greater than even a mother’s love and He wants you to come home to Him! I have found the strength to overcome through God’s love for me. Will you accept HIS unconditional love today? I pray that you do!
All I am, All For HIM! Warrior Bride of Christ,
