Founder – Taking Thoughts Captive!

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Greetings fellow Warrior Vessels, The Emancipated Inmate and Warrior Vessel of God, Donnie Ojemann, here reporting in from the Prison Mission Field!

We should never lose sight of the fact we are deeply engaged in spiritual warfare every minute of every day. Don’t let your guard down warriors, rather “be sober, be vigilant (keep careful watch for danger) because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.” II Peter 5:8 (NKJV)

You may look around and say “But Donnie, where is this war taking place?  I don’t see any war!”

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) explains a little better:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

It’s a battle taking place in the unseen spiritual realm against the spiritual wickedness in high places (the heavens) and against the “rulers of darkness of this world.” It’s happening all over the world and in the air all around us.

You might say, “Well if it’s all invisible to me how does that affect me?”  Because our adversary also is bringing it to a much closer personal battlefield and that’s the place I’ve come to warn you about today – your mind!  He who rules the mind wins the battle!

This brings us to the core scripture of this month’s lesson:

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 King James Version (KJV)

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Verse three (3) supports the fact the war is not in the physical realm and four (4) then tells us exactly where it is by letting us know that God’s mighty weapons He has given us is to be used to bring down the “strongholds” in our minds.  These strongholds are places satan has built and fortified that we can not pull down on our own.  (For example: lust, chemical addictions, rage, pride, vanity)  Paul goes on to clarify the location of our daily battle and what exactly we are to be doing on the battlefield in verse five (5): “casting down imaginations a nd every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

Where do imaginations and thoughts take place?  In the mind of course where spiritual warfare rages against you!  God’s Word tells us to “cast out” these evil imaginations and “bring into captivity” everything that tries to exalt itself above God and His Word.

Verse five (5)  reveals the weapon we need to use to overcome, “the knowledge of God”.  Where do we find this knowledge of God?  In His Word, The Bread of Life, our Holy Bible! Knowledge of God through His Word equips us to overcome all the attacks of the enemy!

2 Peter 1:2-10 (KJV) Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

The result of letting ungodly imaginations and unclean thoughts go unchecked…DEATH!  Death to our testimonies, our marriages, sobriety, self-control, peace, joy, love, fellowship and all things that are godly in our lives! (Please Read James 1:14-15 and verse 21)

It is time to pick the “Sword of the Spirit”, which is the Word of God, using the Power of God’s Word against the adversary.  Don’t let another thought or imagination go unchecked in your mind! We are Warrior Vessels, children of the Most High God and More than Conquerors through Christ Jesus who gives us strength! (Romans 8:37)  Stand strong Warriors and overcome the battle in your mind today!

Your Brother-in Christ,

Donnie W. Ojemann
