2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord
Christ opened the way to the Father, and our spirits began to experience the Heavenly blessing when we accepted Jesus. We can now, through faith, be brought into the presence of God and experience his glory in even greater measure than Moses.
The institutions of family and human relationships were established by God partially for the purpose of modeling the redeeming work of Jesus. Not only was everything in all creation made through Jesus, but it was the divine plan of God to redeem humanity through Jesus. Before God created the heavens and the earth, He chose for Jesus to die on a cross in order for humanity to be recognized as sons of God.
Through the experience of human parents, we can now understand that God is our Father in Heaven, with Jesus as our brother. Through earthly kingdoms and rulers, we can understand that we are citizens of the Kingdom of God, and sons of the King with an inheritance along with Jesus. Through a man and woman’s commitment in marriage, and consummation of that relationship, we understand the intimate nature of our relationship with Jesus, being the Bride of Christ.
Just as Eve was taken out of the side of Adam, the Church was formed out of Jesus. Not only this, but as Adam rose up from his sleep and was joined with his wife, now Jesus is joined with us and we become one flesh. Jesus, who is in the heavenly places, was joined with us when we were called out of our trespasses and into the presence of Him in heaven.
The story of the prodigal son is a beautiful illustration of the Father’s grace. The son is restored, given authority in the household, and is able to enjoy every good thing His father has to offer. This is what God has done for us. He reveals to us our true value, and does not remember the sin we were once a part of. Christ breaks every chain of the heart and makes us free from every form of captivity, and bondage.
The status of being a son of God is no small thing. It’s not something that can be anything less than life changing when understood in the fullest sense of the matter. The reason is that when God has brought us to Him in order to have relationship with Him, He expects nothing less than total transformation.
The sin and evil that infected the entire world, beginning in Genesis, and every ungodly thing that controls and influences the heart of man, can now be considered dispelled from us. The life lived through Christ has the potential to be totally free from evil because of the triumph of the cross.
If we abide in the love of Christ, and recognize our status before God, we can be freed from all worry, fear, depression, wrath, lusts, addiction, illness, disorders, lies, struggle, and anything else that is not the nature of Jesus.
