Romans 12:2 New King James Version (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Happy Holidays to all our Christian Brothers and Sisters of AFH out there! We are honored to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all our members – our first Christmas together.
This is Donnie W. Ojemann, Founder of All For HIM Ministries, reporting in from behind guard towers, razor wire, steel bars and doors to share the freedom of a “life more abundant” with all our family members in Christ during this time of incarceration.
In this day and age of computer technology almost everyone owns, has owned or knows someone who owns a computer, laptop or tablet and has experienced the effects of a computer virus. These computer viruses are destructive to our delicate computers and can cause them to crash, rendering gigabytes of valuable stored data useless, information vital to our daily lives that has taken years and sometimes even decades to save. We spend hard earned money not only saving this information on various types of computers but also protecting it at all costs. No one wants to see all that hard work undone in mere moments but we all know it can happen with just a few clicks of the mouse on the wrong website. Visiting the wrong web address on the internet can invite a virus into your system and contaminate all we worked so hard to put into place.
Our souls are very much the same as these computers that we depend on so much. The mind and heart are a part of the human soul that God’s Word tells us to “renew” or reprogram.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The mind is the greatest computer ever designed and it was designed by our Creator, God. Science is still baffled by all its operational complexities and divine architecture.
The mind or the soul-computer if you will, is where all our thoughts, memories, experiences and knowledge is stored in order for us to call upon when making a decision or to meditate upon when we like. We spend our lifetime storing data in our soul-computer and what we “download” into our minds will either benefit us or harm us much like any program in our little laptop or desktop computer.
Being born into sin, as God’s Word is clear we are, we naturally accumulate worldly knowledge and download it into our minds all of our lives.
Psalm 51:5 (NLT) For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
Romans 3:23 (NLT) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 5:12-15 (NLT)12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 13 Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break. 14 Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come. 15 But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
However when we are born again, God’s Word says we must renew (reprogram) our minds with His life-giving Word!
We are to reprogram the ‘ol soul-computer with God’s living Word and live a “life more abundant” as a direct result of downloading God’s Word into their souls hard drive. So don’t stop feeding on God’s Word brothers and sisters, it’s only through Jesus who is the Word that we can come to the Father.
John 14:6 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
The Bible, God’s Word, Jesus Christ is our program that we are to be downloading.
Now then just like the computers at our fingertips, our soul-computers are susceptible to dangerous viruses that can corrupt and damage many years of God’s stored knowledge in our souls. Just like the places we visit in the virtual cyber world of the internet, our physical reality is altered by the places we choose to visit in the physical realm and in our minds.
Galatians 5:7-9 (NLT) 7 You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? 8 It certainly isn’t God, for He is the one who called you to freedom. 9 This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!
Months, years, even decades of Godly programming can be corrupted by one bad decision as the virus is downloaded into our soul-computer. Many Christians will say, “I know better and navigate away from sin!” Then I ask this question – Why do we as Christians still continue to slip and fall into sin? It is because it doesn’t always start with the obvious. It usually begins with an “associated link”.
We don’t say, “Hmm, I think I’ll cheat on my wife when I get out and destroy our marriage.” It usually begins with an associated link, like the pornography that floods our prison systems and is in our faces on a daily basis. “It’s just a picture after all” we say to try and convince ourselves. This would-be “harmless” website that we choose to partake in is just a link to the real website of infidelity (adultery, fornication or cheating) after release from prison. We all know once a virus is released into our soul-computer’s hard drive it is all-corrupting.
Matthew 5:28 (NLT) “But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
Abusing psych meds and pain-killers, etc from the pill window here in prison is only an associated link to full blown addiction in the free world. We say to ourselves, “They are prescribed to me and they’re not hard drugs after all. I just need some sleep!”
Romans 6:16 (NLT) Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Stealing from our assigned prison jobs is also an associated link with larceny, burglary and even robbery. We justify it by saying, “The state pays for this stuff for inmates and they owe it to me. It’s not like I’m stealing from somebody.”
John 10:10a (NLT) “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.”
The Soul Virus starts slow but in time the sin from which it was created destroys us all.
Even engaging in anger… why visit that website? Steer away from it! Run for it is an associated link to violence, un-forgiveness and pain.
James 1:19 (NLT) Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Worldly Conversations of what we used to do in our past criminal life is only allowing that sinful mindset to continue living and thriving in our soul-computers. – “Oh, but we’re just talking” is how we cover up our words. In reality it’s just another associated link to a life of crime, right back in “the game”. The same game we were all tricked into, gambling our lives with and wound up serving a sentence on.
Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV) Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
These are just a few examples of associated links – what may seem to some as relatively harmless but have hidden side effects that lead us to other sin filled sights and can kill our souls.
Romans 6:23 (NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
People everywhere spend millions of dollars of hard earned money to protect businesses, homes, laptops, computers and tablets – working full time jobs, overtime and even second jobs just to have the necessity of security. Some people use two or three types of security protection to ensure against a virus destroying their cyber-lives. How much more precious is our real computer – our soul, mind and heart – worth protecting?
I encourage all of our brothers and sisters in Christ here with All For HIM Ministries, steer away from associated links! Don’t play with soul viruses that will bring you down and eventually completely crash all of the hard work we’ve put into renewing/reprogramming ourselves in Christ. Remember we are all members of the body of Christ and our family is counting on us (one another) to stay strong in God’s Word that we may transformed into the Godly Husbands, Wives, Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters, Sons and Daughters that God created us to be.
Psalm 119:11 (NLT) I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Bolster your immune system with a good dose of God’s Word; hide it in your heart today! Spend time in Prayer, Worship and Fellowship with like believers. Let’s be aware of our daily activities and make sure we are not visiting an associated link to sin with our actions or our minds, protecting our souls and our testimonies at all costs.
