Warrior Bride – Love Journey, Submission

Ephesians 5:22 (NKJV) Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

Good morning!  My heart is full this morning as my fingers fly over the keyboard!  Our God is so good and faithful when we take Him at His Word and follow it to the letter!  Today I come to you sharing about my Love Journey, it is a journey of Submission to my Warrior Husband and to our Father God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

I know that most of you when you read the word “submission” you were not even sure if you wanted to continue with this posting, but I am sure that the picture grabbed your curiosity and you thought that you would read at least a couple of lines.

Submission is:

  • lower, reduce, yield
  • Sense of “humble obedience”

You see Jesus submitted his will to His Father God and went to the cross for the remission of our sins.  Jesus was on a Love Journey, because He loved the Father and He loved His creation, He submitted His flesh to die on Calvary for you and me.

As a Christian Woman, I have said the same as many of you – Oh I love the Lord and I want to please Him because I love Him!  But do we really?  Do we Love God enough to submit to our husbands as the Lord instructs us in His Word?

Last Friday, was October 4th and my Warrior Husband and I have now been married only 8 short months.  We are still on our honeymoon, however we have had some “intense conversations” and topics have arisen which have brought up feelings and emotions from our lives before we met each other that have not always been positive.  You see we are not in our teens, twenties or even thirties!  We are in our forties and there is a lot of water that has passed under the bridges in our lives before we even met.  The challenge of the Love Journey for me his Warrior Bride, do I follow or blaze my own path?  Do I reason until he sees my way is right?  Do I just go silent and let him think that I am in agreement but do whatever I know is right?  Or do I submit my will to his as unto the Lord?

Healing in Submission

Genesis 2:25 (NKJV) And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

I have learned by reading the Word of God what to do in difficult situations.  I have learned to become “naked and unashamed” before my husband.  You might say, “Of course, you are going to be naked before your husband – you’re married.”  That is NOT what I am talking about.  Naked as in – no masks, no walls, nothing separating us, my soul exposed to him and God alone.  When a topic arises that rips open and old wound and I am having a difficult time stopping the flow of blood and the pain, I show my Warrior Husband my wounds so that he can pray for me and healing can begin.

James 5:16 (NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

You see when the disagreement arises, I have learned that we need to get to the root of why I don’t want to yield to my husbands request or follow in the path that he would like for me to go.  I know that he loves me, I know that I love him – so why am I digging in my heals and not wanting to move toward him?

I challenge each of you today, expose yourself to your husband.  You say that you love God and that you love your husband.  Let him cover you in prayer and learn how to help care for your wounds so that you can receive your healing that God desires for you.

Blessings in Submission

1 Peter 3:1-2 (NKJV) 3 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.

Just last week we were on the phone, I shared that I had a flat tire and got it replaced.  When my husband asked how the other tires were, I admitted that the front two tires needed to be replaced also.  He was concerned as to why I had not done so when I had the flat fixed.  I explained that I was following our budget and that payday had not come yet.  He spoke of his love and care for my safety and that he desired for me to get the tires replaced on payday, not delaying any more.

On payday I promptly went to get the tires replaced as was blessed in meeting two women.  One woman was a prison wife like myself and I was able to share a little about Abundant Life in Christ and the second was a program coordinator for a half-way home for women coming out of jail or prison.  Oh what a blessing!  A blessing for another prison wife and a blessing for our ministry, God connections that I would have missed had I not be submissive to my Warrior Husband and gotten the tires replaced as he instructed!

Has your husband asked you to get the oil changed, new tires, etc.; but you thought it was not a good time or that the money could have been used better on something else?  Just because your husband is in prison, does not mean that he is not capable of caring for your needs and leading you on the right path.  Don’t miss out on your blessings!  Following God’s order on the Love Journey  – is full of blessings that we don’t even know He has prepared for us for us!

Directions in Submission

Isaiah 42:16 (NKJV) I will bring the blind by a way they did not know;
I will lead them in paths they have not known.  I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight.  These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.

Last month my husband’s unit was in Lockdown for two weeks.  Now any of you veteran Prison Wives know that this is normal and it can happen a couple of times a year.  I am a blessed wife of a Warrior Husband that knows how to pray to our Father God in heaven and cover our family in prayer.  During lockdown inmates cannot call home, so we missed our Sunday morning prayer together.  Being dependable and faithful as he is, he mailed home his Sunday prayer to me and I will share just a little bit to encourage each of you.

Good morning beautiful.  Today is Sunday our morning for prayer, May I ?

Dear Heavenly Father, This morning I pray over my wife & children.  Cover them with the precious blood of Jesus in protection & prosperity this week…and me as well.  Continue to pour Your Holy Spirit anointing into my wife and I.  Let everything be for your glory that we do.  In all our thoughts and actions, let them be pleasing to You precious Father.  Continue guiding Genie and I as we guide Your children to You and Your Word.  Give  my wife direction Father for the events of October 3-5, whether to attend the Pursue Women’s Conference or Spirit of Life Ministries.  Make her path clear Lord…

By the time I received my husband’s prayer letter on the following Wednesday, I cried and thanked our Father God for His blessings that have accompanied my Love Journey of Submission to my husband.  I wrote my Warrior Husband a jpay first thing the next morning to share! Here is a snippet of my gratitude and thanks!

First order of business, THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU! My Sunday morning prayer that I received last night was wonderful! And the best part is that God already answered/responded to a good bit of it already.

  1. Cover them with the precious blood of Jesus in protection & prosperity this week-Monday evening: when my toe nail got bent ½ backward off my toe and the blood would not stop spurting. He provided a sister in the church to guide me in slowing down the flow of blood to my foot so that the clotting could begin.  The injury could have been so much worse but because of you covering me in prayer God honored your request. Thus healing beginning! I am healed in Jesus Name!
  2. Continue to poor out your Holy Spirit anointing into my wife and I.  Let everything be for your glory that we do.  In all our thoughts and actions let them be pleasing to you precious Father.  Pray you bring her a double portion of peace, rest and revelation this week.  Monday-Wednesday – Anointing overflowing- two blogs written as a direct result- Partners in Grace and Words Are Key!
  3. Give my wife direction Father for the events of October3-5- Sunday  two ladies from our Bible Study told me they already signed up and have taken the Friday off of work to attend the whole event.

Ladies, you are NOT in your marriage alone.  God has given you a husband to pray for you, and lead and guide you toward righteousness.  The Love Journey will not be so difficult if you follow after your husband’s footsteps as he walks towards God.  God created your husband to be the head of your family to bless you, not to hold you back, down or hinder you!  Follow hard and fast as he follows after Christ! (1 Corinthians 11:1)

Love In Submission

1 John 5:3 (NKJV) For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

Ephesians 5:28 (NKJV) So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

On Friday, October 4th (our 8th month anniversary) my Warrior Husband called me during the break of the Pursue Conference to let me know that he loves me and that he has been lifting me and the women in attendance up in prayer.  As we talked there was a wound that was re-opened that first formed 9 years ago.  I became transparent with my Warrior Husband and shared my hurt and pain along with my need of prayer and healing. I was still crying when the phone recording said, “thank you for using…goodbye”.

I continued my conversation with our Father God, pouring my heart out to Him and letting Him know that I needed healing and direction today, not later, not next week, but today.  I was here at the Pursue Conference in expectation of an encounter with Him.  I let Him know that I loved Him and needed Him to speak to me today, this was a challenge bigger than my husband could fix though I know if he could he would.

We had been singing a song new to me all weekend and it spoke the sentiments of my heart:

Song by Shana Wilson – Press In Your Presence

If I can just press, press in your presence behold the beauty of your face
If I can just press, press in your presence and never leave this place again
If I can just press, press in your presence and leave all my cares behind me
I will be whole, I’ll still believe, I will just lay, Lay at your feet
I will be whole, I’ll still believe, I will just praise, Praise at your feet
Right here in your Presence

If I can just press, press in your presence behold the beauty of your face
If I can just press, press in your presence and never leave this place again
If I can just press, press in your presence and leave all my cares behind me
I will behold, I’ll still believe, I will just lay, Lay at your feet
For I will be whole, I’ll still believe, I will just praise, Praise at your feet
I will be whole, I’ll still believe, I will just lay, Lay at your feet
For I will behold, I’ll still believe, I will just praise, Praise at your feet
Right Here In Your Presence

You call me your own, so Lord I give you me
You own the world, but yet you still want me (x2)

Take my heart, take my mind, take my soul and never let me go (x2)

As I re-entered the conference our Father God was faithful and just, because He loves us, and when we seek Him – He will be found!

Proverbs 8:17 (KJV) I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

God met me there with my broken and contrite spirit.  He saw my open wound and wrapped His arms of love around me!  How you might ask?  He used one of His daughters, a minister of His Good News to speak Life into my heart, mind and soul.  She told me of things that had died in my past and how God was breathing life back into me.  She told me of things I had set aside, that God wants me to pick up and complete because now is the time.  She said “You are late” several times, but I answered “I’m here now” – I sought God and He met me.

There were many things spoken to me that impact our life of service to God.  New life, Abundant Life!  I am now pregnant with spiritual life and will be giving birth soon.  You see God’s Love brings Abundant Life!  I am so blessed, humbled and honored to be one to carry these gifts and give birth to our spiritual children.  Who knows it could be twins or even triplets!

Warrior Husband, I hope you are ready for all that God has prepared for us.  I am full of God’s love, His creativity and He has given us much to look after.  Many spiritual children are coming our way!

In summary, the Love Journey of Submission is not a repressive walk. It is a walk filled with

  • Healing
  • Blessing
  • Direction
  • Love

When you follow the Word of God and submit to your husband as unto the Lord, He honors your obedience.  You see His way is the Only Way to Abundant Life!  I pray that my sharing about what submission looks like when walked out, helps you.

Is this Love Journey a walk of faith –YES!

Will the road have a few dips and cracks in it – YES!

Will your heart be healed – YES!

Will your path have peace – YES!

I dare you to take a chance on God.  Try Him and see if He is good!  Test Him at His Word to see if He is faithful. Not only will your Love Journey be fulfilling, when you get to heaven you will receive even greater riches for following your King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Submitting your will and your ways to God, brings you Freedom!  I pray that you too become pregnant with Spiritual Life as you meet with God today!  Our Father God is at the door even now wanting you to step out on faith towards The Love Journey of Submission.  Hope that I see you along the way!
