Triunity of Marriage
Warrior Husbands today I am going to share with you the revelation of Triunity. This is the word I use to describe the marriage between God, husband and wife, God’s original plan to share His love with us and for us to multiply that love.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 New Living Translation (NLT) Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
Proverbs 18:22 New King James Version (NKJV) He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.
Not only does God say that finding a wife is a good thing but His blessing is upon it! God recently revealed His power and strength that is in a marriage to me and I feel compelled to share this encouraging revelation with all of you. So let’s go take a look at where it all began:
God’s Love Story
The account of Adam and Eve, the father and mother of us all is the first and most precious love story ever told. It was the first joining of God, man and woman and it was perfect and powerful and without blemish.
First we see Adam alone in the garden of Eden a literal paradise without a life partner. Adam going about what God had instructed him to do to “dress and keep” the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15) – notice that he was unique, the only one of his kind. He was without a mate unlike the other creatures there.
God, being the Father of Love that He is, was sympathetic to Adam’s acute loneliness and seized the opportunity to multiply His love for us. God then further perfected His creation and created a beautiful and suitable life-mate for His lonely Adam. Someone to compliment him and share God’s wonder filled love with, this only shows off God’s immense love for His child more. Adam now had someone in his same fleshly life to live with in harmony with God.
Man’s Custom Built Mate
How special was this life-mate that God created for Adam? Let’s put things in perspective by taking a look at how every being up to this point was created by God.
Genesis 2:7 New International Version (NIV) Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 2:19 New International Version (NIV) Now theLord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
All living things (including man) were formed from the very dust of the earth. However man was the only creation that God made in His image and breathed into him the breath of life. But the creation of Eve was more intimate. God could have chosen to do the same when constructing her but God desired Adam and Eve’s bond to be special, unique and personal. God created Eve from her life-mates flesh.
Genesis 2:21-25 New Living Translation (NLT) So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and He brought her to the man. 23 “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman, because she was taken from ‘man.’” 24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. 25 Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.
God made Eve special just for Adam. God didn’t make her from the dust as He had everything else but from Adam’s very own body. He desired to make an everlasting and inseparable union, designed to be filled with and reproduce God’s love as mankind multiplied the earth.
Lucifer was a chief angel fallen from heaven, who was once highly favored by God. Now condemned and punished for his pride and mutiny against God was not happy about God’s newest creation. Adam and Eve had God’s favor and blessing upon their lives. Not only was Satan’s jealousy red lining but he quickly realized what God’s newest creation was capable of. Adam and Eve were real live, flesh and bone love multiplying machines! Not only could they share and stir up God’s love inside each other but they were “blessed” and told to “multiply”. (Genesis 1:28)
They were going to reproduce God’s image and cultivate His love through procreation and family. This holy union of marriage created and ordained by God Himself was going to begin reproducing His love through their offspring, giving God another ever expanding family right here on earth. God’s family of love was fixin to grow exponentially and populate the entire face of the earth that Lucifer/Satan had been thrown down to in punishment.
Satan must have panicked at this revelation of what God had done. It had to be stopped. Satan could not possibly allow this to happen so he set out immediately to destroy this love-multiplying machine called marriage.
The Devil’s Devices Divide and Conquer
The Devil knew he could not overcome the Triunity of God, husband and wife together. His plan? Divide and Conquer. He knew he had to single out one of them and attack them. But which one? The one who had known God for the least amount of time? However it was decided, Eve became the selected target.
Genesis 3:1-7 Amplified Bible (AMP) Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat the fruit from the trees of the garden, 3 Except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.
4 But the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die, 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good (suitable, pleasant) for food and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave some also to her husband, and he ate.
7 Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves apron like girdles.
Division: The Blame Game
When Adam and Eve chose to go against what God had spoken to them, sin entered into the world and began corrupting and destroying God’s beautiful love plan. Keep in mind, it was man’s choice/ decision (Adam & Eve’s) to allow sin in through their disobedience. Once sin was introduced into God’s perfect love plan it began immediately to do what sin does – corrupt, contaminate and destroy. Adam and Eve’s guilt was so heavy knowing they had sinned against God and compromised His perfect plan, neither wanted to be the one responsible for the destruction . The first case of “finger –pointing” was born. Just one more device of the Devil.
Genesis 3:11-13 Amplified Bible (AMP) 11 And He (God) said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me—she gave me [fruit] from the tree, and I ate.
13 And the Lord God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled (cheated, outwitted, and deceived) me, and I ate.
Adam first pointed to Eve, then to God for giving Eve to him! This was yet more sin Adam allowed in by casting blame and not taking responsibility for his actions. Satan’s plan had worked!
The Sin Heritage
Sin then filtered down to Adam and Eve’s children, contaminating the whole world until this very day that we live in. Every child born from that day until now is born in sin, spiritual death. The enemy of our soul has constructed and put in place many more devices to keep God’s marriage plan from succeeding.
Here in the USA, the term “booty call” is as common among our young teens as it is our immorally sexually active single men and women, as well as adulterous husbands and wives. It is safe to say that our society has veered off the narrow path that our Father God carefully paved for us and is on the wide road full of misery and destruction.
Romans 6:23a New Living Translation (NLT) For the wages of sin is death,
Why, because people choose the devilishly alluring culture of our temporary world over the Godly, loving and eternal culture of our Father God’s Kingdom. Just like Adam and Eve, we choose to let sin into our lives and marriages. The cost of that choice is division and divorce.
The Redemption Plan
God unveiled the Ultimate Redemption Plan approximately 2,000 years ago and it is still active today, to redeem us from our sinful choices. All we have to do to activate God’s Redemption Plan in our lives is to repent of our sins and accept God’s forgiveness brought about by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ (God’s Son) on the cross for the remission of our sins. Receiving then the cleansing and redemptive power brought about through the shedding of Jesus precious sinless blood for the sins of the whole world.
Then as reborn children of God, new members of God’s eternal family we then begin our new life and walk with our Father God. We renew ourselves by His Word and our “comforter /helper and teacher” the Holy Spirit. We become transformed into the men and women, Husband and Wives, Fathers and Mothers God intended for us to be from the very beginning with Adam and Eve.
Ephesians 4:23-24 King James Version (KJV) 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
2 Timothy 3:16 King James Version (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
John 14:26 King James Version (KJV) “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
Triunity of Marriage
The Triunity between God, man and woman as we learned today is full of power and strength. Together it is a weapon against the adversary of our souls. It is a sacred union that must be protected at all costs! As a Warrior Husband, I not only wake up and suit up in the “Armor of God” ( Ephesians 6:10-18) in prayer but I am also exceedingly careful to not allow sin to enter into our marriage through me. I stay prayed-up, pleading the blood of the Lamb over us (me, my wife and our marriage). I ask God for guidance daily and for Him to lead this marriage wherever He needs it to go. My loving wife, Genie, who knows how important God’s protection and guidance is, does the same. This way my wife and I are a fully operational, well-oiled love machine operating at maximum capacity to spread God’s love in any direction that God shows us to go!
Your marriage is sacred and powerful, recognize it for what it is… Marriage is the closest union the represents Christ’s relationship with the Church. A married ministry team can be twice as effective against the adversary reaching men and women individually on a more personal level, or together collectively. I minister to men exclusively and my wife ministers to women. In these groups men or women are more likely to open up and discuss deeper issues when it is just “us brothers” or for my wife “us sisters”.
Let God use your marriage to its maximum potential by serving Him together. God put this plan in motion at the very beginning of creation and replicated how He designed marriage in the relationship between Christ and The Church being ONE. With God as the completing factor of His self-ordained love triangle, the Triunity of Marriage – God, Husband and Wife, we find the love of God – in an institution worth protecting.
Ephesians 5:21-33 New Living Translation (NLT) 21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.
25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body. 31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” 32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
