Luke 19:9a (NKJV) And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house…”
Good morning and thank you for joining me another day as I share a moment in my journey as a prison wife. It is now July 23, 2013 and we began to share our ministry on the internet 3 months ago. This month we (most American’s) celebrated our countries Independence on July 4th with fireworks, cook-outs, parties and family get-togethers.
As newlyweds this was our first Independence Day as Mr. & Mrs. Ojemann. My Warrior Husband made sure that called so that we could spend time together on the phone the evening of July 4th, even though we had a date the next morning on July 5th! Yep, he is a very good husband and makes sure that each day I know that I am loved. Together as a couple we cherish every moment, letter, jpay, phone call and visitation time that we are blessed with during this time of physical separation. We have learned to rejoice and love each other completely TODAY, not wait until parole, probation, or release.
God loves us and He wants us to cherish each and every day that He has blessed us with here on this earth, not just when we get to Heaven in the sweet by and by. As a Christian many times we are just “getting thru” the day instead of Rejoicing, Loving and Celebrating TODAY.
In Luke 19:9 Jesus was talking specifically to Zacchaeus, however for each and everyone of us alive, breathing, and reading this Bible Study blog – TODAY is the Day of Salvation! It does not matter if you repented and gave your life to Christ many years ago, or if your new and just recently started checking out this “God thing” – TODAY Jesus Christ wants to welcome you into His family and give you Abundant Life in HIM!
Since TODAY is the day of Salvation, I wanted to find out what other things that I could celebrate about (not that being part of the Family of God is any little fact!) Let’s check out the scriptures and see what else God has given us to praise Him for. God is GOOD lets enjoy the day!
GOD MADE TODAY! Psalm 118:23-24 (NLT) This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see. This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
GOD’s MERCIES NEW EVERY MORNING! Lamentations 3:22-24 (NKJV) Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”
GOD IS FAITHFUL! Deuteronomy 7:9 (NLT) Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
GOD LOVES US! 1 John 4:17-19 (NLT) And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.
No matter where we find ourselves, homeless or in a mansion; on welfare or an executive for a major corporation; single, married, divorced, widowed; husband incarcerated or at home for dinner every night, whatever circumstances are in our lives – God has given us each a reason to CELEBRATE– HE MADE TODAY, HIS MERCIES ARE NEW TODAY, HE IS FAITHFUL TODAY, HE LOVES US TODAY!
I am a Prison Wife and I am able to live the Abundant Life in Christ TODAY!
- Every Letter I send to my husband will reflect my love for him and the love of God for us!
- Every Phone call I receive I will share my love and the love of God!
- Every visit that we are allowed I will follow all the rules, enjoy a snack with my husband from the vending machines, be still and listen as he prays over us, slow to anger, share news from home, be thankful for God’s mercy on us, speak life and love with tenderness, hold hands and kiss my man!
Today my husband is incarcerated, but the day will come when God will bring him home. (And yes there will be much rejoicing on that day) However, I will not waste today crying, whining and complaining about our circumstances. I will be thankful for every moment we share, I will praise God and be grateful for our health, our lives, our finances, our clothing, our food, our shelter, our communication and our family. I will enjoy this day that God has given to us! I will encourage my husband in the Lord, I will lift him up in prayer, I will be a wife that he can be proud of. God is GOOD! He made today for us, His mercies are new for us each day, He is faithful today, He loved us yesterday, He loves us today and He will always love us.
I believe that I have only just stumbled upon a corner of the iceberg of God’s Goodness. I pray that this writing has encouraged each and every one of you to CELEBRATE TODAY!
Just like I don’t know the day or the hour that my husband will come home from prison – only God does. I don’t know when Jesus will return but one day soon we will each see Jesus face to face, then we will eat at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb – there will be a grand Party with singing, laughing and rejoicing!
Revelation 1:6-8 (NLT) He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen! “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
Revelation 19:9 (NLT) And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”
TODAY is the day of our Salvation! We (Donnie and I) will not wait and rejoice only on grand occasions, we will celebrate and we will rejoice TODAY – the day God made for us!
Ephesians 5:19-20 (NLT) singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sure hope that you will catch the JOY and LOVE that God has for you and REJOICE with us TODAY!
Sincerely Warrior Bride of Christ,
Mrs. Donnie W. Ojemann, All I am, All For HIM!
