God’s Children Are Favored!
Favored – Favor means to assist to provide with special advantages and to receive preferential treatment. Let’s read:
Proverbs 12:2-3 (NKJV) A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of wicked intentions He will condemn. A man is not established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous cannot be moved.
You mean we should expect to have favor in our lives from God? That is exactly what I am saying. Not in arrogance, but knowing that God loves to bless His children! He wants to make your life easier. He wants to assist you, to promote you, to give you advantages. But we must become favor-minded! What does that mean? That God owes you something, that you are demanding He pay up? Absolutely Not!
What I am saying is to be favor-minded, simply meaning that you expect God’s help and that you are releasing your faith, believing that God wants to assist you. This is based on the fact that He is your Father, He loves you and desires to help you!
Right here, right now? Yes, right here in jail, prison or at home – where ever you are right now! Let’s take a look at Joseph.
Genesis 39:20-23 (NKJV) Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. 23 The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.
Because Joseph was a godly man and put all his faith in God and was obedient to God. God favored Joseph. Joseph prospered even in prison! God can open doors for you anywhere you are at. God loves you, you are His child – not the devils any longer. As a child of your Father King, He wants to raise you up.
Joseph was put over the other prisoners and was faithful to the job appointed to him, so God promoted him again and again until he was raised up to be second in command over all of Egypt. Joseph’s loyalty to God and God’s Word reaped favor among men and with God.
How about today, can we go to God and ask for His favor? Yes, absolutely!
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Isn’t mercy getting favor? Yes, by God’s mercy and grace we don’t receive the full punishment that is deserved. When we repent of our sins and accept God’s forgiveness – we receive His favor upon our lives. We deserved to die, but Christ already gave His life for each of us. Have we received Special Treatment? Yes, God loves us so much that His love has covered a multitude of sins – we are now His children and we have favor from our Father King!
1 John 5:13-15 (NKJV) These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Our Father lets us know that if we have confidence in Him, that whatever we ask according to His will, He will hear us! We are set apart. We are special in God’s eyes. We claim Him as our Father and in turn He claims us as His sons! Don’t expect the worst to happen or even what the world predicts will happen. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy about God not loving you because of your past sins. Don’t believe the lies of God not wanting to bless you and prosper you – you are now His Child and He wants to give good gifts to you. You are now obedient to His Word and walking in His path of righteousness – your Father God desires to bless you! Expect God’s favor in your life, He desires to bless each and every one of His children!
Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
God promises us that no weapon formed against us will prosper! Does this sound like favor to you? It sure sounds like it to me. When we were not children of God we did not have this protection in life. But now we are His and He protects His own! This is our heritage in the Lord now that we belong to Him.
Some of the greatest men in the Bible sinned, however when they repented and submitted their lives to the Lord – the grace, mercy and favor they received is beyond anything they could have achieved. Truly a gift from God alone.
- Moses was a murderer before God met him at the burning bush and asked him to free the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt.
- David committed adultery and murder, after his repentance God promised that his descendants will rule for all time.
- Peter denied knowing Jesus Christ three times, after his repentance he became the head apostle that spoke on the day of Pentecost and over 3000 came to know Jesus Christ!
- Saul killed the Steven (the first Christian Martyr) along with many others for believing in Christ, after he was stopped in his tracks on the Damascus road and encountered Jesus personally – he became Paul the apostle to the Gentiles and wrote more than 50% of the New Testament.
Do you need mercy? Do you need grace? Do you need God’s favor in your life? Have you repented of your sins and received the free gift of salvation? If you haven’t, God wants you to join His family today – it is not too late to become His child. If you have already repented of your sins, your Father God has forgiven you and desires to bless you. Are you ready to accept the favoritism that God has for you His child?
Now is the time that you realize you are no longer your own – you are a Child of God, the Creator of the Universe. You are no longer a child of darkness, but a Child of Light! He has an overflowing abundance of mercy and grace just for you!
Favored Child of God,
