Matthew 5:9 (KJV) “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Matthew 5:9 (MSG) “You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.”
Good morning and thank you for joining me another time as I share part of my journey as a prison wife. It is now June 19, 2013 and we began to share our ministry on the internet exactly 2 months ago today. With Father’s Day just passing, I have been reflecting on the past when I was a little girl, time with my Pop, things that people said about me acting like my Pop or looking like my Pop through the years.
This got me pondering; today do people know who my Father King is? When people look at me do they only see the resemblance to my earthly father whom I endearingly call Pop? Do they know that I am a child of God, a Christian?
Let’s look together to see if we can even find traits of what God is like and then we will be able to see if our lives reflect Him.
PEACE – now this is a difficult one. It is easier to fight than to be peaceful. People come against us all the time. It could be as simple as someone trying to beat you to the parking space at the mall or as difficult as someone challenging your commitment in being married to an inmate. For our husbands behind bars, it could be someone shoving them in the chow line or another shake-down in their cell that seems unwarranted.
The great thing about being a Child of The King is that He knows of our struggles and He gives us the tools/weapons to be successful in representing HIM. If we are lacking peace in our lives, guess what He has an abundant supply if we ask HIM, He will freely give it to us. Pray for Peace.
Philippians 4:7 (KJV) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Prayer, great pray for peace… heard it before but it didn’t seem to work for you? No problem, God has more for us to learn about being His child. He tells us that transforming our mind into the mind of Christ is another key element.
Philippians 2:5 (KJV) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
When we keep reading in Philippians 4 – after we learn about how God’s peace will exceed our human understanding, He shares how we are to transform our minds to be Christ-like.
Philippians 4:7-8 (NLT) Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
TROUBLE – what? I thought you just said that we were to have peace? Yes peace in our spirit, to have peace even in the middle of our troubles. But trouble we will have, why you might ask. Because living for God, being His child is NOT popular. It goes against the very sin nature we are born into when we take our first breath. When we choose to follow God and do what it pleasing to Him not everyone will be happy with your choice and most of all the enemy of our soul is furious because he is losing out to God, our Father King!
Is having trouble Biblical? Let’s take a look and see what we find:
Matthew 5:10-11 (NKJV) “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.”
Romans 8:16-18 (NLT) For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.
Though we have tests, trials, troubles and tribulations – remember who your Father King is! We are more than overcomers through the blood of Jesus Christ and the word of our testimony! We can’t have a testimony if we never had a test! We win we are children of The Living King!
GOOD FRUIT – Though we have trials and tribulations in our life, when friends, family and even our enemies come in to take a closer look at us, they should find good fruit in our lives. Fruit of the Spirit that indicates that we are a Tree of Righteousness being feed by the Living Waters of God; another way that God shows us off saying take eat the fruit that My children grow is good, like Me!
Galatians 5:22-25 (NKJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
1 John 3:9-11(NLT) Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.
GOD’S BIRTH MARK – Love. That is it one word here in the English language that is multifaceted in the language of Heaven. Any child of God has His Birth Mark visible in their lives, not covered up by a blouse or shirt, trousers or skirt. His Love Mark should be on display for any and all to see that you belong to our Father King!
It is not easy to let His love mark show. At times it can be embarrassing. Each one of us does not have His love mark on the same place on our bodies. However it is distinctive in that all will know we belong to HIM.
Most people in our US culture have heard and can recite the famous scripture of John 3:16:
John 3:16 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
However, before John the disciple penned these words in Chapter 3 – he wrote about the character of God in John Chapter 1. It clearly states that most people did not recognize or appreciate the magnitude of the gift of love that God gave or who God clearly is to us. Let’s read:
John 1:1-10 (NLT) In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him.
So as children of God walking in His will with our Love Mark clearing exposed – we can be mis-understood, let me expound from personal experience.
Before I was a Warrior Bride beside my beloved Donnie, God had challenged me to be His Ambassador of Love to one person. Who you might ask? The very husband that God was preparing for my future; this was no simple request as Donnie had recently been arrested. He was in a local jail when God asked me to be His love ambassador. Yes Donnie and I were and are both Christians, however God used the circumstances that brought him to jail to help both of us grow more fully into the likeness of Christ.
Before you put up your wall of unbelief or pull out your tools to try and dismantle what I am sharing – God’s children know His voice and anything that He says is backed up by His Word.
On April 26th I attended a rally and Luke Chapter 15 about the prodigal’s son was preached, I had never heard it preached like this before! It was talking about the Father – not the son as most preaching emphasizes. Here were the key points that I received that evening from our Lord.
· God loves you when you are wounding His heart. The Father let the son leave, He did not try to stop His son from leaving.
· God loves you when you are walking away from Him. God can stop us – but He loves us enough to let us have our own way. He wants us to be willing to stay with Him.
· God loves you when you are wasting your life. God does NOT give up on us!
· God loves you when you are walling in sin!
· God loves you when you are working to come home to Him!
· God loves you when your wrapped up in His arms of compassion and forgiveness!
· The Father recognizes His child when he is still a long way off. He runs out to meet His child!
· The Father knew that His son would not be accepted back into the community without Him. The Father took the shame upon Himself.
· The Father pours out His love on His child before there is repentance!
· True repentance is because of the love the Father has for His child! God’s love draws us and saves us.
· God loves you when you are welcomed back home. He puts His robe around you and His ring on your finger, then the party begins!
· God loves us even when our siblings become jealous and bitter when we return to our Father’s house.
The Lord spoke that evening for me to share His Word with Donnie. I said yes to my Father King and the role of Love Ambassador became a way of life and not just something that I did on occasions. Not only did my Father King love Donnie enough to reach out to him through me, He loved me enough to show me a more excellent way to HIM and become the wife and Warrior Bride that writes here today.
You see when we allow God’s love to truly pour into us and then out to another person that is walking in love. In my past I had done “acts of love” (teaching children Bible Stories, feeding the homeless, visiting the sick, praying for those in mourning, etc) but I had not ever lived outside of myself or my family. To love another as God loves…
As my Warrior Husband wrote earlier this month “His Word is Alive” – it was there in jail that the Lord revealed His Everlasting Love not just to Donnie but out here in the free world to me! What does His Word mean to you when it says that we should “Love one another”? It has been a challenge to me and I have known the Lord since I was just a young pre-teen!
However today, being a child of my Father King is much clearer to me. It is no longer something I only read about in the Bible. It has become a part of my life and my husband’s life. Are there challenges still? YES! We live in a house of clay, we were born into sin but as we stay close to our Father King – reading His decrees, His story and listening to His voice, He makes our path straight as we walk in His light and love growing closer and closer to Him. One day we will look so much like our Father King’s Son Jesus that they will say of us like they said of Peter and John:
Acts 4:13 (NLT) …for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
In review, to be recognized as a child of The King I will endeavor to please my Father by:
- Live peaceably with all men -Romans 12:18 (NLT) Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
- Testify of victory over my tests! -Romans 8:36-37 (NLT) As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- Share Good Fruit -John 15:5 (NLT) “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
- Expose God’s Love Mark on my life -John 13:35 (KJV) “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
I pray that this writing has encouraged each and everyone of you to look more like our Father King each and every day. Before long we will each see Him face to face, what a joy to be told – “I know you are Mine, you look just like Me!” Soon everyday will be Father’s Day!
Sincerely Warrior Bride of Christ,
Mrs. Donnie W. Ojemann,
All I am, All For HIM!
