John 13:15 (NKJV) “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”
Jesus is our perfect example in how to live our lives as children of the Most High God. We work (or should be working) to “renew” ourselves in Christ, following all of His examples of behavior and attitude. By “renewing” ourselves and being “transformed” (Romans 12:2) we are obeying what our Father God expects of us, to follow Christ’s example.
There is a great example that Jesus capitalized on that we as the modern church seem to be missing or ignoring, Active Discipleship. Disciple is defined as one who studies under a teacher or Master. In our case as Christians we are students of Christ Jesus. We study all that He has to teach us, all that His life here on earth modeled for us. The first step – salvation, most churches seem to get right. We witness, we invite people to church, they come and give their hearts to God then we move on to the next person that doesn’t know the Lord. I wish to share with you some nuggets of knowledge that seem to be lacking everywhere I go.
Students do not (should not) go to college only to learn. Rather the student is brought up the academic ladder to graduation for the ultimate goal of application. It is great to be a student and learn, but can you apply what you have learned in a career or in day to day life?
The 12 disciples did not continue to only be students of Jesus’ works and lifestyle but graduated on to become Active Disciples the founding Apostles of The Church.
Apostle defined in Crudes Concordance:
- One who goes forth
- Followers of Jesus Christ who do evangelistic work
Evangelist is defined in the Oxford Dictionary
- one who sets out to convert others to Christianity.
Go Forth and Set Out are the key words that I would like to expound on.
After Jesus had gathered up His disciples (followers) He began instructing them in the ways of His Father above. Jesus said in Matthew 4:19 “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” This means that not only would Jesus (the leader of The Church) teach the disciples (The Church) about being “fishers of men” but that He would make them into “fishers of men”. He planned to send them out into the world to do exactly as He did and reap souls for God’s great harvest after He taught them how.
Look around you, are you in a congregation going to church every week, singing, listening to the Word of God and then going home? Are you a bench warming “inactive” Christian, only coming to be fed and never sharing with others?
The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) are not only an account of the Good News of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins unto salvation, but a live account of how we The Church should be “active” Christians. Studying under our pastor/shepherd/teacher and then to go out spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to others. Be the Active Disciples that God intended us to be.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV) “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Jesus spoke plain, He gave us the perfect directions in His Word and actions on what it means to be His disciples. It started with the call in Matthew 4:19: Follow Me…
Then after he died and rose from the grave, before He ascended to heaven, Jesus instructed us in Matthew 28:19: Go…
Between the initial call of the disciples and the commissioning of the disciples to go and teach all nations was a time of study and preparation. The sermons, the leading by example and the hands on training (like feeding the 5,000 in John 6) the disciples needed to prepare before they went out to share the Good News.
Are you an “inactive” Christian? When you leave church service, do you leave God right where you found Him? Is Jesus allowed to go home with you or must he stay outside?
Or are you an “active” Christian? Do you pick up your Bible and spend time reading God’s love letters to you at home? Do you take time to study God’s Word and take a deeper look at what you heard at church? Are you learning how to impact the world around you by sharing the greatest news of all time, the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Are you surrounded by those who only speak flattering words? Go to church because that is what “good Christians” do? Living each day among wolves hoping that you can make it back to church next week but not sure you will survive?
This is for you: CALLING ALL CHRISTIANS FOR ACTIVE DUTY!
Jesus did not die on the cross just so that we could go to heaven by ourselves. He wants us to share His goodness, His mercy, His love with others. He wants our families, our friends and even our enemies to go to heaven with us! He desires that none be lost and go to a devils hell.
What are you doing to be the Active Disciple that Jesus desires?
How are you equipping yourself so that you can GO and MAKE DISCIPLES for Christ?
Are you ready to share God’s Word with others?
If someone walked up to you today and said, “I’ve been hearing about this God thing. My life is a mess and I want to know more about Him.” Would you know what to say?
If the same person decided to give their life to Christ after hearing about God’s grace and love, would you be able to lead them in a prayer of repentance unto salvation?
God is so good and has done so much for you – can you share your experience with someone else so that they can receive His goodness in their lives? If not, then why would you expect them to attend your church or Bible Study?
God did NOT save us from hell so that we could just wander around His pasture grazing, napping and grazing some more, never sharing His food with others.
God did NOT save us from hell so that we could just walk around eating in dumpsters, trash piles and dung heaps all week and only eat in His pasture for a couple of hours on Sunday, if we even make it there.
Today is the day to answer your call to Active Duty! Everyday spent inactive is a day we can never get back. A day we could of helped someone else find Jesus instead of staying in our comfort zone and watching opportunities go by.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV) …Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Today is the day to raise up might soldiers for God’s army. God is coming soon and He wishes that none parish!
Acts 2:17 (NKJV) ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
In the last days the adversary will be fighting harder than ever to drag down as many souls as he can. God desires Active Christians to fight the good fight and win souls for the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus said in John 21:17 – if you love me, feed my sheep! This is an action. To feed (minister) the Word of God is a command not a suggestion. Jesus wants His disciples to be healthy and full of life, The Bread of Life!
God has blessed us here at All For HIM Ministries with the opportunity to raise up Active Warriors for Christ on the home front and in the prison field; equipping men and women with God’s weaponry and courage to share the Word of God with others on the battlefield of life.
Arming soldiers with Christ’s example to stand up boldly to be the men that God designed them to be; to not only share the Gospel with words but in their actions among other incarcerated men. So that when they return to the free world they will be battle tried and true, veterans in God’s army. Imagine soldiers of God armed and ready to take the Good News to the hardened streets of every major city in Texas. To the ghettos, barrios and street corners where the name of God is only spoken after a stray bullet whizzes by their heads; to the drug dealer and the addicted; to the prostitute and the thief. The message of God’s freedom and salvation to the gang member who signed his soul over to a life of chaos, captivity and death.
God’s love and salvation is for everyone – are you the man or woman God is looking for?
The man, God has called, to help reap the Harvest in the midst of the devil’s killing fields?
We are God’s Warriors! God is working today from inside these prison fences, to take back the very streets that seduced and tricked men to turn away from their families, wives, children and God for a life of heartache, pain and incarceration.
We are dedicated to sharing the Word of God to help men and women renew their minds through the Word of God; creating awareness that God has a plan and a purpose for every single ne of our lives. What is that plan? Sharing His Word with others. God has custom made each and every one of us, we are His vessels to serve Him in the way He deems best!
Our core scripture here at AFH: Isaiah 61:1 (KJV) “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”
I believe that these men God is pouring out His Spirit upon are the “Special Forces” unit that He will use to reach men and women right here in the USA and around the world. Those that have been lost to the streets and blinded by satan’s lies in our cities and towns. A Special Forces Unit that is hand crafted by our Father God, taking our history and making His Story. Confirming His Word of Truth “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
God has called us for His Glory! To spread His liberating message of Freedom to a special group of people here behind the fences to take back the streets for our Father God. God’s message of Love, Grace, Forgiveness and Salvation is an Active Message for us to share the Good News with all we encounter!
Will you answer the call? God Wants You Today!
