Founder – Strength to Overcome in HIS Love

Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ all around the world.  My name is Donnie W. Ojemann, founder of All For HIM Ministries, my desire to share God’s Living Word and His Unfailing Love with each of you can no longer be contained.

Isaiah 61:1  (KJV) “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”

These words from God, express the driving force of my beautiful wife (Genie) and I’s new gift – All For HIM Ministries.  Thank You Father for honoring these two vessels, using us for Your purposes.  As I continue to “proclaim liberty to the captives” here in the prison field, my heart becomes full.  Laden with this message of His love I know I must share it to prevent my heart from bursting!

Here (while incarcerated) my Brothers and I break bred together at our daily Bible Study groups and feast upon His Word.  You see God blessed me, going on a year now, with a heart to share His Word by starting Bible Study groups everywhere I go.  It’s here in these spirit-led groups that we share the knowledge of God’s Word, the revelations received and the challenges each one of us face on a daily basis.  The very same struggles all of us Brothers and Sisters have everywhere – it’s the overcoming of these various struggles that has been laid on my heart to share with you today.

Some time ago a brother from a Bible Study group approached me with pleading sincerity in his eyes and asked me, “How do I overcome these things I have been continuously struggling with and just can’t seem to beat?  I try and I try and I try only to fail again, again and again.”

Empathy welled in my heart as I immediately knew how he felt and what he was going through.  We’ve all been there in our walk and many of us are still there battling those same old demons.  “Shouldn’t I have figured this out yet?” we ask ourselves.  Thankfully, I had recently had my big revelation break through on the subject; I was readily able to offer an answer that before I could not have …

“I find my strength to overcome in His love for me.”  Once simple sentence that encapsulates the power and its source I need to overcome struggles that had been plaguing me over half my adult life.  The blank stare that had overtaken my face many times when given this same elusive answer (dressed in different words) was now staring back at me.  Instead of being left to ponder the mystery of this claim alone as I was in my past, I went on to share the revelation and victory of His power in my life – His Love!

His Word says in James 4:7-8 (KJV) “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…”

“Resist the devil?! Ha!” you may say.  “I’ve been trying to resist the devil and it seems I’m doing all this struggling but he isn’t doing much “fleeing”!  This leaves us feeling frustrated, unworthy and defeated.  For many of us this has been the result of a lifetime’s worth of struggling.  What made me an overcomer? A victor instead of just a struggling victim?…Again I say, His Love!

After a year of diligently pursuing God day in and day out His love began to blossom in my life and become and ever-present reality.  As the magnificence of His love began to overtake me I could only stand in awe-struck wonder and accept the greatest love ever known.  See first I pursued Him, and then the understanding came.

In James 4:8 lies the key: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…”  Get closer to God and He’ll get closer to you.  The only way to know how much God loves us is to get to know Him better – draw nearer to Him, and we’ll learn of His unfailing love.  How do we do that?  Stay in constant pursuit of God’s Word.

John 1:1 (KJV) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

His love for us was written in the very beginning of His Word with Adam.  God desires to have a deeper more meaningful relationship with all mankind, His creation, His children.  His love and desire to have a relationship with us is on every page of His Living Word to us.  His love could not have been more abundantly expressed than His sacrifice of His only son, Jesus Christ, on the cross for our sins.  Oh, He loves us!  More than our minds can even fathom.  Get to know God and you’ll get to know His love.  Get to know His love and it’s there in His love you’ll find the strength to do the right thing and overcome temptations.

That’s it?  Yes, that’s it.  It’s that simple.  As God’s love for me grows brighter and brighter, deeper and deeper it has become impossible to ignore!  It’s everywhere, all around me, coursing through me, overwhelming me and I cannot ignore it.

The closer I get to Him, the deeper His love gets and the more I don’t want to hurt my Heavenly Father by choosing to commit sins against Him.  I love Him too much to do it anymore.  The more I learn of the depth of His love the more I want to please Him and get closer to Him.

When that moment of temptation comes knocking as it is always sure to do (doesn’t that temptation guy ever get tired?) it’s God’s love for me that “never grows weary” (Isaiah 40:28) that I keep fresh in my heart.  I do that by studying His Word diligently and staying in His presence.  That keeps me strong enough to overcome.  Worship Him, praise Him!  Experience His love in your life all the day long and when you need His strength it’ll be right there.

When I feel God’s love all around me it’s so much easier to overcome those tempting moments.  Want to overcome temptations?  Get to know God’s love for you and just how strong it is.

“I find the strength to overcome in His love for me.”

I hope this seemingly simple yet powerful revelation in my life helps others that maybe out there struggling.  I’ve known what it feels like to try and fail.  But now I know what it feels like to overcome and please my Father above.
